Could you guys call it “Food Wars!”?

It’s just that in English Viz Media, and Sentai Filmworks, they call it “Food Wars!”

      • Eh, most fans call it Shokugeki still. I’ll see about changing it to Food Wars, gonna look around to see how many people are really that bothered by it.

I think I’ll be the only person bothered by it. I’m just nit picky about that sort of things.

Like Viz Media calls it Blue Exorcist. And it’s called Ao no Exorcist to most people who don’t really follow the official english translation. I’m not gonna shove it down your alls throats about calling everything as it’s spelled by the companies that translated it. I’d just appreciate it. But if I am the only one bothered by it, I”ll just suck it up.

Seems too early to jump onto the western name to me and especially as the term “Food Wars” is generic, never used in the content of the official translations (while Soma is the lead, Shokugeki are the major battles at least in the CR translations).

It would be like a worse case of calling the Ace Attorney games based on Phoenix Wright. Capcom eventually flipped the priorities so “Ace Attorney” was the main focus (which isn’t perfect but is a fine alternative to Gyakuten Saiban). I highly doubt Viz and others will revise their names, but for the sake of characters who know the story, everyone knows what a Shokugeki is and everyone knows Soma.

Don’t see why it matters at all honestly. Especially for a game that will never be brought overseas anyway.

I know, I’m just speaking my mind.

Also, I can’t wait to buy the Blu-Ray Box set of Season 1. I wonder how successful this game will be? A lot of Weekly Shonen JUMP aime has been getting a lot of handheld games. Assassination Classroom, Food Wars, World Trigger. Those are only ones from this year I believe.

Counting older series, the 3DS got a Dragon Ball fighting game called Extreme Butoden (actually getting localised!) but yeah, portable anime games as shows start running is a great way to reach a lot of people and test the waters with an affordable project.

World Trigger, Assassination Classroom and Bleach also have recent mobile games as well which are naturally even safer to start up and maintain to the point of them being able to shut them down when it isn’t worth running. WSJ will get more portable games if these series or games become a hit. So far, Assassination Classroom seems safe but it is a little early to tell whether World Trigger will last even if the manga seems good and the anime could get another season.

Beelzebub was a year old anime and a bit, but no game came from it and WSJ dropped it in a terrible way.
